The Band - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
Without question, The Band is greatest Canadian band of all time. Canadians (with an American drummer) who came to embody the sound of a romanticized American south. As I’m sure you know, they have so many great songs that I could have posted, so I’ve settled on this old classic.
Also, my favorite fun fact about The Band is that the name suposedly comes from people referring to them as ‘the band’ when they were backing Bob Dylan, they were actually called ‘The Hawks’ at the time.
And with that, Canadian music week is dead. Long live Canadian music week!
What a heartbreaking, beautiful, epic song. Love it.
